How to Save Water, Energy, and Money In Your Home

We all know how important it is to save water and energy such as your central heating system, it doesn’t just affect the planet, but it also affects your money, if you’re on a water meter then these tips will be very useful for you. Sometimes we forget about those little things that can help us save water and energy in our home. Nobody thinks about it all the time so we’re here to give some tips to remind you.

- Turn off the tap when you brush your teeth – this can save 6 litres of water per minute, but sometimes we forget because it seems like it wastes nothing.

- Always use full loads in your washing machine and dishwasher – that way you can lessen the unnecessary water usage.

-Fix a dripping tap - it can waste up to 15 litres of water a day, or 5,500 litres of water a year.

-Use water instead of throwing it away - Instead of just throwing away used water, you can water the plants or do something else useful with it.

-Turn off the lights - Don’t forget to turn off the lights instead of letting them stay on all day. If you’re not going to be in the room, then just turn it off.
You can also buy the timers for your lights so they would turn on and off in a certain time of day so even if you forget to turn them off they will automatically.

-Take shorter showers – I know it’s really relaxing to take a long hot shower, but doing so you can spend up to 45 litres per minute.

-Don’t throw away any kind of garbage in the toilet – by doing so you can spend more water than you can imagine

-Don’t wash dishes under running water - you can simply rinse up the dishes with a sponge and then wash it under the water, has the same effect.

- Don’t clean the vegetables under running water - you can just take a bowl and fill it up with warm water, it will do the same job just with less spending water

-Bring your own bag when going shopping – instead of taking a plastic bag every time you go shopping you can simply bring a reusable bag made of textile, you will still be able to bring the things you bought, you would just help out the planet by doing it like this.

-Buy different light bulbs - if you sit in one room all day or you don’t want to turn off the lights then simply buy LED lights, you would be surprised by how much money you would save that way, they also have a longer lifespan!

-Turn off the adapter, not just the TV itself –by doing so you save about 20$ a year

There are so many things that we don’t pay attention to in our everyday life and they would make our lives easier and our planet wouldn’t suffer so much. These little things will make your wallet fuller and raise your awareness. If all of us do the best we can then I believe we will have a more care-free life than we do now. We hope these tips help you out in your everyday life.
